Indie Rock Band Turbo Widget Celebrates a Stunning 2019 Delivering Diverse Music and Mesmerizing Videos
December 23, 2019 – St. Louis band Turbo Widget is nearly too wide-reaching and diverse in their sound to be called Indie Rock, something grudgingly accepted as a starting point description of their sound. A happily married team, Ben and Kim Hanvy, who have embraced a remarkable mix of music, professionally filmed and edited video, and thoughtful art to carry their message of vision and light, 2019 has been a milestone year.
Not just meeting their goal of one new single and video a month, Turbo Widget has reached even further ending up with 31 new videos on our YouTube channel (12 of which are features) and 23 new releases available for streaming/purchase (one for each of the 12 months of the year, six re-release from their 2016 Ep, and five re-genre’d songs also from 2016). The band has thanked fans for all of the support and very much look forward to continuing to expand their efforts in 2020 and beyond.
“We are both in the optical field for over two decades so the vision and light messaging for 2019 was important to us,” commented Ben. “Turbo Widget is our hobby and a labor of love, and it is wonderful to have had such a successful year. It means the world to us.”
All of Turbo Widget’s music is free to download on both the Bandcamp and CD Baby platforms. This aspect of their project is a very important one, with their love songs and songs tackling addiction and fear, being made in the hopes of adding value to listeners lives – in addition to expressing their art and entertaining.
2020 has the band planning on working hard to raise the bar in the quality of everything from lyrics to video resolution (which are high already!) while also looking for opportunities to hit the stage and play live gigs again.
December’s release is also now available and features Kim taking up vocal duties. Titled “Who Knows” it delivers fun, whimsical lyrics, which may be very much a song to enjoy as friend get together and 2019 comes to an end.
